Introduction
Today we are talking about something super important if you are using tools like ChatGPT to create marketing content for your business. If you have ever tried to use AI and the content just falls flat, sounds generic, or feels all over the place, this episode is going to fix that.
I am going to show you how to create the ultimate prompt by using your StoryBrand Brandscript so ChatGPT finally creates content that is clear, consistent, and actually sounds like your business. Welcome to Marketing Domination.
So here is the deal. Large Language Models like ChatGPT are amazing, but they are also like a lazy literal employee. It will do exactly what you tell it to do, but only what you tell it to do. If it does not have context, it will guess. That is why every time you hit regenerate, the answers sound totally different.
If you want consistent, high quality content, you have to feed the machine context. The best way I have found to do that is by using the StoryBrand framework.
If you have never watched this podcast or you are new here, I am Sean. I own Sean Garner Consulting, a marketing agency, and I am a certified StoryBrand Guide. We build websites, sales funnels, SEO, ads, and everything else using clear StoryBrand messaging.
What I have found is that clients love their brand script, but many do not actually use it because they do not know how. Once I showed them how to plug it into ChatGPT, the light bulbs went off. Suddenly their content sounded aligned, clear, and consistent everywhere.
This episode will show you exactly how to turn your StoryBrand Brandscript into a powerful base prompt for all your marketing content.
Let’s walk through the seven parts of the StoryBrand Brandscript and how to use each one to build your ultimate ChatGPT prompt.
1. The Character
This is your customer. Your prompt starts by filling in the sentence:
"My customers want ____."
Remember, you can have multiple versions of this based on different products or services you offer. The Brandscript is a framework, not a one size fits all statement. Use it for each offer, category, or division of your business.
2. The Problem
There are three levels of the problem: external, internal, and philosophical.
External: The main thing your customer is dealing with that your product or service solves.
Internal: How that problem makes them feel.
Philosophical: Why it is just wrong that they have to deal with this problem.
The philosophical section is powerful because it connects with your audience emotionally. These are statements like "you deserve," "you should not," or "we believe."
3. The Guide
This is where you talk about yourself, but only in the right way.
Empathy: Show that you understand what your customers are dealing with.
Authority: Show that you can solve the problem.
Authority can include testimonials, case studies, stats, credentials, awards, or anything that proves you know what you are doing.
4. The Plan
Give ChatGPT your clear three step plan so it always describes your process correctly.
There are two types of plans I teach:
The Process: The three simple steps your customer needs to take to do business with you.
The System: Your unique method or proprietary process.
For example, at Sean Garner Consulting our system is:
Build the funnel
Fill the funnel
Optimize the funnel
Your content will be far stronger when ChatGPT knows your plan and your method.
5. The Calls to Action
ChatGPT needs to know your calls to action so the content it writes ends with the right direction.
You need two types:
Direct CTA: The main action you want people to take.
Transitional CTA: A lead generator for people who are not ready yet.
Transitional CTAs must have:
A clear catchy title
Content that positions you as the guide
A quick win or first step in your process
6. The Failure
Failure describes what your customer will continue to struggle with if they do not solve the problem.
Think of it like salt in bread. A little adds flavor. Too much ruins the whole thing. Do not fear monger or future cast years down the road. Keep it real and immediate.
7. The Success
Success is everything your customers want after working with you.
This is like the flour of the bread. You want a lot of it.
List the immediate wins, the mid term wins, and the long term transformation.
Bringing It All Together
Look at what you have now. You have:
What your customer wants
The problems in their way
Why you are the guide
Your clear plan
Your CTAs
What failure looks like
What success looks like
This becomes your master prompt. When you feed this into ChatGPT, every email, blog post, social caption, video script, or ad will sound aligned and on brand.
A brand script is not meant to write copy for you. It is meant to make sure all your copy is filtered through the same message.
Just like your visual branding makes your brand look consistent, your StoryBrand Brandscript makes your communication consistent. If you have an agency writing SEO content and someone in house managing social media, they both sound like the same company.
The company that communicates the clearest wins.
