We just made Feedspot's top 10 for digital marketing for small businesses
I want to share something that made my week.
Feedspot just named the Marketing Domination Podcast one of the top 10 podcasts for digital marketing for small businesses.
If you have not run across Feedspot before, they are an independent site that ranks the best podcasts in just about every category you can think of. This is not a list you can buy your way onto. They do the picking. So landing in the top 10 for small business marketing is something I do not take for granted.
But here is the thing. This ranking is not really about me.
It is about you. The small business owner trying to figure out marketing while also running the actual business, answering the phone, and doing the work you got into this for in the first place.
Why I started the show in the first place
I did not get into marketing because I loved marketing. I got into it because I got burned by it.
Years ago, I was a gym owner paying an agency to handle my marketing. They told me they were doing the work. They were not. And when we went to part ways, I found out I did not even own the website they built for me.
That moment lit a fire under me. I went down the rabbit hole and taught myself this stuff, and it turned out I was pretty good at it. Friends started asking how I was doing it. Then their friends started asking. Eventually that turned into an agency and this podcast.
So when I talk to you on the show, I am not talking as some guru who read a book. I am a business owner talking to another business owner about what actually moves the needle.
What the show is actually about
Every episode comes back to one idea.
Your marketing should be simple, scalable, and get you consistent results.
Not complicated. Not something that only works if you have a full-time marketing team and a giant budget. Simple enough that you can actually run it, and strong enough that it keeps working while you sleep.
We dig into the things that actually generate leads for local service businesses:
SEO and local search, so people find you when they search for what you do
Websites that turn visitors into booked calls instead of just looking pretty
Sales funnels that follow up so leads do not slip through the cracks
Your Google Business Profile, which is often the first thing a customer sees
The messaging that makes someone pick you over the competitor down the street
Some episodes are just me breaking a topic down. Others are interviews with people who are great at one specific piece of the puzzle. Either way, you walk away with something you can use.
If you are drowning in marketing advice, start here
Here is the trap I see small business owners fall into over and over. They try to do everything at once, get overwhelmed, and end up doing none of it well.
Knowledge without execution is meaningless. So instead of ten things, start with three.
1. Build the foundation. Get your website and your message clear before you spend a dollar on ads. If someone lands on your site and cannot tell what you do and why they should choose you in about five seconds, you are losing leads you already paid to get. Clarity beats clever every time.
2. Fill the funnel. Once the foundation is solid, drive the right people to it. That is SEO, your Google Business Profile, and paid ads when it makes sense. The goal is a steady flow of the right leads, not a random spike you cannot repeat.
3. Optimize what works. Track what is actually bringing in customers and do more of that. We make decisions based on data, not on a gut feeling about which post looked nice. The numbers will tell you where to put your next dollar.
Build, fill, optimize. That order matters. Running ads to a confusing website is like pouring water into a bucket with a hole in it.
Real experts deserve to be seen
I believe the best business in town should be the one that gets found, not just the one that is loudest online. Too often the person who is genuinely great at their craft gets outranked by a competitor who is simply better at marketing.
That is the whole reason this show exists. To give you the strategies to close that gap and get seen for the expert you already are.
Getting recognized by Feedspot tells me it is working. But the real proof is the business owner who emails me to say they finally understand their marketing, or that the phone is ringing again.
Give it a listen
If you have never checked out the podcast, this is a good time to start.
You can listen at seangarner.co/podcast, or find it on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube under Marketing Domination.
Here is your action step for today. Pick one episode that matches something you are stuck on right now, listen on your next drive, and put one idea into action this week. That is how this stuff actually changes your business.
Thanks for being part of this. The ranking is a win, but helping you grow is the real point.
